A Tale of Two Sisters Blog

We support, celebrate, and teach writers.

I just chugged my morning green drink, and I'm revved with supersonic energy! This glass full of green goodness is like rocket fuel from Mother Nature — I'm turbocharged to write from breakfast to bedtime, or tape my TV show, go running, do yoga, and have fun with family and friends — all while feeling great.

So what’s in it?  Organic kale, jalapeño peppers, avocado, spinach and some kind of herb–today I used parsley and super flavorful basil.  Then I whirr it up in the blender ’til it’s smooth and creamy, and it tastes so good, I drink the whole glass all at once.

Besides spiking your energy, it boosts your metabolism, packs a powerful punch of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants, gives you tons of fiber to cleanse you from the inside out, and cranks up your immune system.  Your skin will be clear and glowing, and you will look and feel younger.

Since you are what you eat, and what you put into your mouth has a huge impact on your brain and your mental health, eating “clean” natural foods such as fresh greens every day helps to stabilize your mood and cultivate mental wellness all day and night.

Think about it-- green leaves bask in the sunlight as they grow.  They absorb the sun's rays.  So when you eat greens, you are literally consuming sunshine!

Actually I enjoy two green drinks every day.  My NutriBullet enables me to make two at a time, so I save the second one for late afternoon or early evening for a jolt of energy to power through a workout, my writing, or a meeting.

The trick is to keep the ingredients on hand–open my refrigerator and it looks like a farmer’s market.  If you think it’s too expensive to eat healthy, a bunch of organic kale is 99-cents whereas a big bag of chips will cost you $4!  Plus, what you invest in your health now, you'll save on medical bills, prescriptions and doctor visits later in life.

You can also sweeten up your drinks with fruit — but calories can really add up, so do what works best for you.  Another thing, don't expect your green smoothies to taste like a milkshake.  They don't!  But they're fueling your mind, body and spirit to maximize your creativity, productivity and wellness throughout the day and night.  So drink up!
