Eggs: Taking Another Non-GMO Step


When we were little, Aunt Ann used to take us to the Egg Lady and her eggs were the best!

All these years later, I am in the habit of simply just buying eggs. After eating an omelet recently, I sent an email to the producer of said eggs asking if they were GMO free. 

His first line had me breathing a sigh of relief: All fresh eggs are non-GMO. 

His second line was both straightforward and thoroughly confusing: The laying hens that produce Fresh Eggs do consume GMO grains because most of the corn and soy beans produced in the US are GMO. There is, however, no GMO detectable in a fresh egg.

I just chugged my morning green drink, and I'm revved with supersonic energy!  This glass full of green goodness is like rocket fuel from Mother Nature — I'm turbocharged to write from breakfast to bedtime, or tape my TV show, go running, do yoga, and have fun with family and friends — all while feeling great.

So what’s in it?  Organic kale, jalapeño peppers, avocado, spinach and some kind of herb–today I used parsley and super flavorful basil.  Then I whirr it up in the blender ’til it’s smooth and creamy, and it tastes so good, I drink the whole glass all at once.

Baby Steps to Less GMO


It’s really sickening to think that we are eating food that has been genetically modified, and we don’t know it. How does this differ from the unknowing human-subject experimentation of the Tuskegee Syphilis Study?

Next time I go grocery shopping, I’m going to see just how easy or hard (I know it’s going to be hard) it is to shop for only products labelled with the Non-GMO Project Verified label.
