Weekly Digest March 17, 2019
Hello! We’re helping writers, building a writing community, and featuring writers around the world. Starting this week, we’re adding teaching writers, too, by announcing the launch of our Weekly Webinar Series on Wednesday, March 27.

Next week we’ll share the winning stories from our February short story contests. Stay tuned!
Meanwhile, we want to flashback to our four winners from our November, 2016, “Workplace and a Thank You” contest. Each story had to include the words “Thank you,” and have a workplace as the setting.
Our winners were:
“Thank you,” Kyle said to each one of them.
“Thank you,” she said. And she savored the feeling of color rising in her cheeks.
“Thank you,” she said. “I, just — Thank you.”
"Thank you. I appreciate it," I lie, knowing he's extending me this professional courtesy because I work for the prosecutor's office. In truth, I'd love to see my mother in handcuffs.
We’re so happy to all the writers who submit stories each month. And we are honored to publish their stories in our forthcoming second anthology. Learn more about it here.
BUILDING A WRITING COMMUNITY
GREAT NEWS! We’re adding a fourth weekly session to the Two Sisters Writing Club.
Our aim is to offer an evening option for our West Coast writing friends.
This also benefits our late-night East Coast writers.
Beginning Monday, March 18, we’ll hold two writing sessions:
4:00 p.m. PST / 7:00 p.m. EST
7:00 p.m. PST / 10:00 p.m. EST
Please sign up. Then open your planner and write “Writing Club” once, twice, three, or four times a week. With a scheduled appointment to write, you’re going to show up, aren’t you!? Your financial investment also helps keep you accountable.
What Writing Club members get:
• 4 Writing Sessions per week (60 minutes each)
Mondays at 7 p.m & 10 p.m. * Wednesdays at 9 a.m. * Fridays at noon (All times EST)
• A Weekly Accountability Check-in email from Two Sisters
This quick and easy weekly questionnaire arrives in your In box on Saturdays. It’s a good way to assess how your writing went this week. This opportunity for reflection helps you stay tuned into why you joined the writing club and keeps you mindful of what you want to get out of the sessions.

We’re super proud to celebrate a book we published a year ago.
Born one of 22 children to a sharecropper in North Carolina and having no access to a library in the Jim Crow South, Steve saw past the injustices in the world and set out at a young age on his life’s mission: to improve the human condition.
The first in his family to finish college, Steve later went on to become the first African American President of the American Red Cross, the “humanitarian organization that provides emergency assistance, disaster relief, and disaster preparedness education in the US.”
Steve worked hard—and he worked smart—embracing what became the four pillars of his life:
As a mentor to many students and people, Steve knew his life story was one that could serve as a template for others, so he put it down to share with the world.
In case you missed it when it came out in February of 2018, Steve’s book is still receiving favorable reviews from readers. Learn more about it here.
