Remembering and Forgetting, A Spiritual Journey, is a journey that many of us have been on or are on in one form or another. The beautiful thing about this book, is that it doesn’t get into such detail as would make it too difficult for an abuse survivor to keep reading (I am one), but gives enough of an idea as to give an understanding of how difficult her situation must have been that she had grown up in, and come through as an adult. She brings you on her journey from an incredibly difficult beginning, through much searching and yearning to belong somewhere, and to feel safe and loved. And her own ability to love others through it all is truly inspiring. Her spirituality is an unfolding blossom of questioning, and yet a deep belief in the power of spirit, and in a higher purpose. The people she meets along the way have such an impact on her that they help propel her in different directions to search further, look more within herself, and add to helping shape the woman she becomes. And it is clear that one person, her therapist, helps open her up to what is going on inside her; what she’s gone through that she may not have been able to see (because it was perhaps too unthinkable to acknowledge), and come through the other side into a more whole version of herself. It’s a beautiful story. A story of hope, and of more than just mere survival. It is a story of living.

I read this book and was left in awe of Lin Day's story. She has bared her soul in order for us to understand and appreciate her unique and amazing journey from an insecure adolescent to a confident adult. Her trip was not easy, but through her honest reporting, I could really feel and appreciate her struggle. Her story tells of a childhood of religious and sexual ambivalence born of questionable family dynamics, but eventually rendered whole through the efforts of a loving and wise psychotherapist. Her honesty was such that at times, I almost felt the need to avert my eyes from her naked self. The book is short but rewarding. Read it, you won't be disappointed.

In her beautiful book, Lin Day states, “It seems my life was a series of remembering and forgetting.” I can certainly relate to this in my own experience and I believe many others can, as well. In Lin’s search for understanding herself, she goes on a journey, like so many of us, through her past and present and finds many of the answers she needs. This book reveals to the reader a depth of wisdom, and a heart open to all that life has brought and all that it will bring in the future and we are invited to join her. How lucky!!

It is hard to believe that Lin Day’s book,
"Remembering and Forgetting", is her debut novel.
Lin courageously takes us with her on a journey
of remembering her early life filled with pain and
self-doubt, struggles and confusion. But through
hard work and resoluteness, she was able to rise above
her past and believe in herself.
I suspect we have not heard the last from Lin Day.

This is the author's first book and she does a superb job of portraying her early life in, of all places, a convent! An interesting look into how nun's live along with insightful revelations of Lin's life. A strong woman's journey into the past that explains her outlook on life today. Truly an inspirational, quick read about priorities and finding happiness.
